2019
3D augmented reality experience , Lockdown mode, going round and round.... I used Guzheng a chinese instrument from inside logic pro to create the music.
This AR sculpture marks the beginning of a new direction in my work, experimenting with 3D AR .
Visual metaphors for the struggles and atrocities committed in the name of Religion?Yes but also a reminder that in the wrong hands, any Religion can become as scary as a big bee that stings, as deadly as a virus , or as bloody as a corrida

This is not about corona,
This is about the virus of corruption clientelism and negligence which led to the destruction of Beirut during it’s worst catastrophic meltdown on all fronts . So much has been said about lebanese resiliance , and many claim rightly so that it is one of the reasons of our present decline. However strong and positive and hopeful we will remain , and with a smile we will rebuild despite the shards of this last blast, which are so deeply embedded in our souls,

Statement
Roula Sorour is a multidisciplinary British Lebanese artist .
Working at the intersection between seeing and hearing, she mixes paintings, drawings, graphics, sound bites and her own compositions, to create paintings photos and audio visuals reminiscent of our erratic volatile and unstable world.
Her work has been shown in London, Berlin, NY, LA ,Paris, the Netherlands, Turkey , and Lebanon.
Is it because we are living in an environment of constant change and instability, or is it because she comes from that part of the world where instability is the norm, and where drastic change is urgently needed?
No matter what the reason is, Roula has always been fascinated by change, and the balance and struggle between two opposing states. Of major concern to her is the shift of this delicate line between peace and chaos, good or bad ,right or wrong...It is the direction of this shift that will change our perception and shape the future .
Paintings, drawings, photos , textures from found materials are all manually or virtually , collaged ,modified ,torn, crumbled or even destroyed to create virtual landscapes that are reminiscent of our erratic volatile and unstable world. These landscapes explore the constant struggle and need for change in order to detoxify body, mind, spirit and planet, from anything negative ranging from stereotypes, violence , racism, toxic illusions to germs, viruses and everything in between.
